Hydrolyzed Keratin

Hydrolyzed keratin is usually derived from wool and is made up of a series of peptide chains. The size of those peptides matters. In a 2025 study, hydrolyzed keratin formed a film on the hair cuticle, and some of it passed into the cortex. After UV exposure, keratin-treated hair kept its tensile strength, while untreated hair lost 14.32%. A separate study compared keratin peptides of different sizes. The smaller peptides penetrated deep into the cortex, and the mid- and larger-sized peptides targeted hair breakage in both dry and humid conditions. This is what makes it both protein therapy and peptide therapy: keratin delivered in pieces small enough to work where your hair needs it.

Lactic Acid

Lactic acid is a gentle alpha hydroxy acid that hair care formulators use to balance pH, which matters more than most people realize. Research shows that alkaline products increase the negative electrical charge on the hair's surface, creating friction between strands that could lead to cuticle damage, frizz and breakage. Studied as a marine ingredient for helping protect hair from environmental stress, it also adds slip, helping a comb glide more easily through damp hair.

Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate

This is radish root fermented with lactic-acid bacteria, a natural approach to keeping the formula fresh.
